For Faith Williams, helping people has never been just a career—it’s part of who she is.
Long before opening Health Surg+ in Chattanooga, she spent years serving others as an Army medic before transitioning into emergency medicine as a nurse practitioner. The fast-paced environment taught her how to think quickly, stay calm under pressure, and make decisions that could change someone’s life in an instant. But over time, she began to see a gap in healthcare that she knew could be filled differently.
That vision became Health Surg+, a locally owned, self-pay medical practice designed to bridge the gap between primary care and the emergency room. While many people think of urgent care as a place for quick visits and prescriptions, Faith has built something much more comprehensive.
Health Surg+ offers everything from IV fluids and wound care to blood work, X-rays, and even IV antibiotics for patients who might otherwise spend hours waiting in an emergency department. The goal is simple: provide high-quality care quickly while helping patients avoid unnecessary hospital visits whenever possible.
As a business owner, wife, and mother of two young boys, Faith understands that balance isn’t something you achieve once—it’s something you work at every day.
Fitness has been part of that equation for nearly two decades.
She first discovered weightlifting while serving overseas in the Army, and what began as a way to stay physically prepared gradually became a lifelong passion. Today, she still prefers picking up heavy weights over logging miles on a treadmill.
“I’m not a cardio person,” she laughs. “I’d much rather lift heavy things.”
Like many entrepreneurs, finding time to work out isn’t always easy. Running a healthcare practice often means long days and unpredictable schedules. Still, Faith makes it a priority because she knows the impact it has on both her physical and mental well-being.
Whether it’s three or four workouts each week or squeezing in a quick strength session before another busy day, fitness helps her stay grounded through the demands of business ownership.
That commitment has become a family affair.
Instead of simply telling their children that health matters, Faith and her husband invite them into the process. Their sons now join family workouts in the garage, performing scaled versions of the same exercises their parents complete.
The soreness that follows has become part of the fun.
“They love it,” Faith says. “They’re learning good habits early.”
While Chattanooga offers countless opportunities to get outside, hike, paddle, or explore, this season of life often revolves around work and raising young children. That’s why the family’s home gym has become such an important part of their routine. Over the years they’ve built a space where they can complete nearly every workout without leaving home, occasionally visiting a commercial gym for equipment they don’t have access to.
As a veteran, healthcare provider, entrepreneur, and mother, Faith wears many hats. Yet each role seems to reinforce the others. Her experiences have shaped a philosophy centered on consistency rather than perfection.
Her advice for busy parents who struggle to make time for themselves is refreshingly straightforward:
“You just make time. Whether it’s getting up an hour earlier or fitting it in wherever you can, you stage it into your day.”
It’s the same practical mindset that has helped her build a growing healthcare practice focused on accessibility, compassion, and meeting people where they are.
In a world where healthcare often feels rushed and impersonal, Faith Williams is proving there’s still room for a practice built on relationships, service, and genuine care.
