Step 1: TRAIN OUR BRAINS
WE HAVE THE ABILITY TO TRAIN OUR BRAINS.
I know, I know—sounds a little out there, right? But stay with me. This isn’t some mystical discovery. The truth is, this ability has been hiding in plain sight all along. Most of us just haven’t had the tools—or the awareness—to tap into it.
So, why should you listen to this middle-aged, perimenopausal woman?
Let me paint a picture of what life inside my head used to feel like:
Imagine a toddler. In a crowded Vegas casino. On a Ferris wheel. On drugs. Spinning at full speed, non-stop. That chaotic loop was my mental baseline from birth to age 40.
Then I started training my brain.
And for the first time in my life, I felt truly present—at peace in both my mind and body. It’s been a total game-changer. And here’s the best part:
It’s free, it’s simple, and if you stick with it—it works.
Yes, it takes time.
Yes, it takes consistency.
And yes, sometimes it’s a “fake it ‘til you make it” process.
But if you lean in, trust the process, and give it your all—you will feel the shift.
So pull up a chair, get comfortable, and prepare to get just a little weird with me. Today, we begin with Step 1: Self-Awareness.
Step 1: Self-Awareness
Before we can change anything, we have to observe everything.
This means becoming consciously aware of what’s happening inside and around you. I’m talking about your:
- Emotions
- Sensations
- Reactions
- Triggers
- Habits
- Energy
- Thoughts
Start by doing a daily mental inventory.
Ask yourself:
- How did I start my day?
- What did I eat?
- Did I move my body?
- How much water did I drink?
- How did I feel in certain moments?
- What made me react emotionally?
Keep it simple—open the Notes app on your phone and jot a few things down each day for one week. Treat this like an experiment. You are the scientist, and your subject is you.
Don’t judge—just get curious.
This isn’t about fixing anything yet. It’s about observing patterns so we can better understand ourselves.
This is just the beginning. And trust me—it only gets better from here.
